3D Printing Overview: Hands on Space

Create, and to make available to the public, CAD model files of NASA hardware and phenomena that are truly ready to print on existing consumer-level 3D printers.
Objectives of the Hands on Space group:
  1. Train NASA engineers, animators, Education and Outreach staff, and interns, to adapt existing models and documentation to create high-fidelity, simple-to-print CAD models.
  2. Develop and disseminate a guide to developing 3D models that are simple to print and snap together with minimal post-print processing. Make the guidelines simple and quick to implement, to minimize modeling cost.
  3. Develop and publish a printing guide, including adaptations for common printing problems, to go with the 3D models on the public webpage.
